Transportation
All firearms should be transported unloaded in a properly constructed carry case or bag and where possible, have the bolt removed.
If traveling by air, it is advisable to contact the airline and ascertain their requirements well before your departure date. Below are a few tips:
-
Firearm must be in a locked case
-
Passenger must have key to the case
-
All ammunition must be packed in manufacturer’s packages. Loose ammunition is not permitted.
Firearms and/or Ammunition is not permitted to be carried in the passenger compartment of any aircraft.
Airline staff will check the firearm to ensure that it is unloaded at the check-in counter. Please arrive at least 45 minutes earlier to allow this to happen.
If traveling on trains or buses, firearms should be carried in a locked hard case with the ammunition carried in a separate container from the firearm. It is recommended that firearms are transported with general luggage where possible.
In any instance where you are traveling with firearms, it is suggested that you contact the carrier.
