 FAQ's - Firearms

When it comes to Firearms, no question is a silly question.

  • How do I apply for my Shooter's License?
To apply for your Shooter's License you need to contact your local police station and speak to your Regional Firearms Officer. You must complete your Firearms Safety Course and successfully pass your safety test before you can obtain your license.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

    -  If you do not hold a Shooter's License and would like to participate, you must be supervised by a fully FGA licensed shooter.

    -  If you are not a member of FGA and visit a FGA Branch Shoot, you must sign the visitors book to be covered by our insurance.

    -  It is also important to keep in mind that Firearm regulations are different from state to state. For more information on state regulations click here.

  • How do I go about sitting my Firearm Safety Course?
To sit your Firearms Safety Course will need to contact your local police station and speak to your Regional Firearms Officer or contact the Victorian Firearms Registry. It is important to keep in mind that Firearm regulations are different from state to state. • What are the regulations on transporting my firearm?
All firearms should be transported unloaded in a properly constructed carry case or bag and where possible have the bolt removed. Firearm Transport Regulations are different from state to state. • How old do you have to be to apply for your Shooter's License?
You must be 12 years old to apply for a Junior's Shooter's License. You can apply for a full license when you turn 18.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

    -  If you hold a Junior's License you must be supervised by a fully Licensed FGA shooter to be able to shoot. The same rule applies to an unlicensed shooter.

    -  When you go from a Junior License to a full license you do not have to sit the Shooter's License test again.
